NEW PICTURE BOOK
As Long as the Line Continues
TAKUROMAN’S FIRST PICTURE BOOK
A Japanese-English bilingual picture book for adults, using a single line as a metaphor for life—and sharing the thought that it is okay to be freer and still be on the way.

ABOUT THE BOOK
It follows a line that trembles, bends, and sometimes appears to break apart, through short hiragana poems and TAKUROMAN’s artwork.
At the end, TAKUROMAN reflects on insights gained through his artistic practice: that ideas are already within us, that it matters to begin with ease, and that meaning comes afterward.
All poems and texts are presented in Japanese and English. The final page invites the reader to draw their own line: “What kind of line is your line? Try drawing it.”
From the book Even if it looks scattered, in truth, it has always been one line. Life is a single line. It is okay to still be on the way. (Excerpted) You can go anywhere. You can draw anything.

AUTHOR’S NOTE
TAKUROMAN
“When I drew, I would freeze in front of a blank sheet of paper. I was overwhelmed and could draw nothing. Sketch, make a clean copy, add color—the prescribed way I learned as a child was the way I continued when I returned to studying at 35. Then one day, that suddenly changed. I discovered a new approach and became free. Perhaps everyone experiences something like this. The way the world tells you to do things may not fit you. When you find a different way—a way that fits you—living becomes easier. I made this picture book because I wanted to share that.”
